DESCRIPTION:
Beautiful, well kept, garaged, and never driven in winter. It is a xxxx Cadillac Model Sixty Special. This vehicle has been in my family since xxxx (2nd owner). We have been enjoying it for 43 years now. I actually remember taking it to my high school junior prom in xxxx. I am now approaching retirement and need to downsize. The car is taking up precious space and collecting more dust these days and it deserves a good home with someone who likes to tinker. It is still driven during the summer months and used mostly for weddings and going to the occasional car show or out to dinner. Much has been done to it through the years although mostly routine. Weve been through a couple of water pumps, some suspension parts, muffler, new regulator, a window piston replaced, and had the transmission rebuilt back in the 80s. The car was repainted in xxxx. There are a few small chips in the paint but they are barely noticable. There is a slightly noticable dimple in the rear bumper from the previous owner who must have backed into something and had it repaired. My dad bought the car from the first owner, a Mrs Stone, who was a little old lady in a neighboring town who finally could not drive the car anymore because of advanced age. She had purchased the car new from Miller Cadillac in White River Jct, Vt. in xxxx. The car has been domiciled in Central Vermont ever since. The story that her son related back when we bought it was that Mrs. Stone only used it on weekends to take her little old lady friends out to lunch for special occasions. This story was corroborated at a car show only a couple of years ago. An interested Stowe car show spectator inquired about the car, telling me that he remembered the car and the little old lady and friends coming into his dads restaurant in Randolph Vermont back in the 50s when he was a kid bussing tables. My dad loved his antique car and taking us to car shows. It passed to me upon his death in xxxx. The interior was reupholstered in xxxx... Very close to original. The headliner was also replaced at that point. It is still a great car to drive and fun to use for special occasions. It is definately a head turner. It is an instant attraction and one man parade wherever it goes. My wife was a little self-conscious riding in it at first. I had to reassure her it was the really the car that everyone was looking at and not what she was wearing. Regarding the xxxx Cadillac From Wikipedia: For xxxx, Cadillac showed all-new styling on every car in the lineup, including the $xxxx.00 Sixty Special. While the opulent interior rivaled no other Cadillac, the exterior styling was nearly identical to the less-expensive Series 62 models. The chrome louver trim that was mounted on the rear roof panel since xxxx was now moved to the lower rear doors, just forward of the rear wheel wells. Although Cadillac utilized a wheelbase 4 inches longer than the Series 62, the 130 in wheelbase (3,300 mm) was down 3 in (76 mm) from the previous year. The xxxx Sixty Specials shipping weight was 4,136 lb (1,876 kg) in base form (over 4,300 lb (2,000 kg) curb weight), and was powered by the same engine introduced for xxxx - the 331 cu in (5.42 L) Cadillac OHV V8 producing 160 horsepower (120 kW). For the first time in their history, over 100,000 Cadillacs were sold this year, and 13,755 of them was the Sixty Special a new record for that model. Of historical note is that the actual 100,000th Cadillac that rolled off the assembly line was a xxxx Sixty Special. Another web site I found regarding the xxxx Caddy: The post-war xxxx Cadillac reached all-time luxury car status, priced moderately at $xxxx and even upwards of over $xxxx for the nicer 75 sedan models. The xxxx Cadillac boasted luxury, speed and overall great looks. Designed and inspired by wartime aircraft, the xxxx Cadillac featured large tailfins, as well as clad all-over chrome, that set it apart from other cars of the era. The engine, which was reportedly a product of over 10 years of research and development, proved to be 14% more fuel efficient and faster than ever bef
